The Cracked Gate is a large chamber carved into the base of the mountains along the river, about an hour’s travel to the north of Dirtwater. It is believed that the chamber served as a entrance for merchants bringing their goods via the river, but long ago a shift in the mountains created a crack in both the ceiling and floor of the chamber, leading to a slow, steady drip of water and collapsing the passage deeper into the mountain.
The entrance is a large, carved opening, about 20' wide and 30' tall, flanked on either side by tall, sheer cliffs. There are six pillars in the massive chamber, about 100' wide and 200' deep. The chamber is filled with refuse from prior camps, including the remnants of campfires, and and dripping water from the ceiling and created several shallow pools. At the rear of the chamber, a wall has collapsed and rubble blocks what is believed to be a tunnel traveling further into the mountain. The tunnel is flanked by 60' tall statues of dwarven figures, one of which has fallen and broken into several pieces.
