Cooper is the son of The Helmsman, a magi-tech prodigy that worked with AEGIS turned sky pirate. The Helmsman is known for his gigantic, brass airship dubbed The Monarch, mastery over magic controlling the winds, and a vast army of magical, clockwork knights. Whilst known as a sky pirate, The Helmsman instead claims to be the king of his own kingdom and that the knights are his loyal subjects. Said subjects often being used to wage small-scale wars against companies and businesses The Helmsman felt had slighted him in his past.

Although he inherited his father's magical aptitude and technological expertise, Cooper has no interest in following after his father and instead hopes to become a hero at Eclipse Academy. He attends Eclipse following an incident in which The Monarch flew too close to the Academy and had a hole blown in its side, causing cooper to land in the football field on campus. Cooper had never been able to explore outside his father's airship prior to this event and is thus only used to comical steampunk/clockwork tech, sparking deep fascination with any new forms of tech he comes across.

Cooper strives to start a magi-tech club at Eclipse and find new likeminded friends to show him how things work on the surface.
