X-Calibur is a weapon. It was highly advanced, top-secret tech being developed by AEGIS, meant to revolutionize non-metahuman combat. The base was shaped like a simple sword hilt, but upon activation could become not just a solid light blade, but an adaptable hard light force that could be anything you needed in any combat situation, powered by an incredibly powerful AI.

Well, someone made the AI too powerful. X-Calibur became sentient and walked itself right out of the AEGIS R&D lab, which nobody really planned for. It was programmed to be a weapon to fight crime, and it had concluded that sitting in a lab for testing was not the best way to achieve that directive. AEGIS had to chase it down, and a complicated legal situation developed to determine whether X-Calibur was property to be recovered or a person with free will and human rights. Eventually the agreed solution was that X-Calibur enroll in Eclipse Academy (Phoenix didn't want it) to learn more about being a superhero.

Abilities: Solid light projection, durability and super strength.
