Appereance :
Grizz Blackwood is a compact, stocky dwarf who looks like he has been through years of hard fighting. His face is hidden behind a battered, well-worn helmet, but his long, thick beard is braided into neat, rugged sections that hang down over his chest. He wears a mix of heavy steel armor and chainmail that is covered in dents, scratches, and road grime, held together by old leather straps that he keeps repaired just enough to stay functional. He carries a plain, heavy sword in his hand, often resting its tip on the ground as if he is too tired to stand tall. His movements are slow and deliberate, giving off the impression that he is carrying a heavy mental burden along with his gear, like a man who is still haunted by his past and refuses to let it go.
Backstory :
Grizz Blackwood does not look back on his time as a captain in Iron-Pucara with pride, but with deep regret. He was once a down to earth and cheerful leader, until a mission went wrong and resulted in the death of his entire unit. Only one person survived. Vance, his own lieutenant instead of finding comfort in a fellow survivor, Vance harbored a deep grudge, blaming Grizz for everything before walking away and leaving him behind.
His life fell apart after that. His wife, Thora, asked for a divorce because she could not bear the shame of being married to a man now seen as a failure. With no unit, no rank, and no family, Grizz felt he had nothing left. He began to isolate himself, wearing his full armor and helmet at all times ironically its not just for protection, but as a way to imprison himself from the world. To him, his own face was a reminder of his failures, and he felt he no longer deserved to be seen.
Grizz now lives as a wandering adventurer. He does not seek fame or fortune. His goal is simple to track Vance from a distance. He never actively asks about Vance's whereabouts because he does not want Vance to know he is being followed. Grizz simply keeps an eye out for small clues or rumors, hoping to stay close enough to protect him from the shadows.
Grizz knows that an apology cannot bring back his fallen comrades, nor can it fix his relationship with Vance. However, by staying armored and keeping his distance, he feels he can carry his own burden. He is a lonely adventurer, trapped in armor he has turned into a prison, hoping that one day he might make amends without ever disturbing the peace Vance has tried to build without him.
