Greetings and Salutations all, I am Russell otherwise known as Hawk He/Him.

Residing in every bodies favourite backwater England, I was not introduced to TTRPG’s until I was 24. Now I never seem to get enough of that sweet sweet RP-ing goodness. I actually began with 7th sea, and loved the idea of a game that essentially mixed dice rolling probability, and straight up acting. Since then I’ve played many systems, 40k Deathwatch, Savage Worlds, D&D 5e, Cthulu (5e I think), Shadowrun (2e I think), and probably more I have played one shots in, but escape me now.

Of course on top of that I started playing L5R 4e maybe two years after beginning this wonderful hobby. What struck me as so unique about it, was the way it really reinforces the notion of this alien (by our modern western standards) feudal society. We can play samurai in D&D or Savage Worlds or any other setting agnostic system, but L5R has such a rich lore and robust culture that it was impossible for me not to fall in love. I was not a Japanophile until I played this game.

I have only ran small, personal table stuff (both online and IRL) and have never actually ran a one-shot (le gasp!), but within that have ran multiple, years long campaigns and have even ran a few paid campaigns as well.

I had only read the L5R 5E core book before joining this game, as my personal tables were more used to 4E. I learn rules quickly though, and my main strength has always been narrative design.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Until I joined this server, I had never really done pbp before either, so my strength is definitely in voice. However due to the amount of pbp only players I will be dipping my toes into that from time to time when the idea for the adventure maybe suits a slower pace.

Narrative wise I’m all about that human drama. Crime, corruption, war, intrigue that’s my jam. Samurai vs Samurai, where morality is often greyed out by circumstances and bushido. As I said I don’t really do one shots, so my scenes will usually be interconnected to at least a few others.

Availability wise I’m good for most weekends, but also Wednesday and Thursday. I’m looking forward to running for everyone, stay happy every peeps!
