Looking back on it, I have no explanation for why I didn't get into L5R earlier. In the 90s, I was buying VHS tapes of Tenchi Muyo! and downloading painfully low resolution mp4s of Ranma ½. I was into CCGs and RPGs and even had a subscription to Shadis, AEG's monthly gaming magazine. Perhaps it was true that their Declaration of Independence was overly punitive to AEG's other products.

Regardless, during the Pandemic I played through Wedding at Kyotei Castle as Ikoma no Hayashi Ryokai, and I was hooked. This is my third L5R campaign, second as GM, and I helped build the Earthdawn Westmarches game that is still going strong six years after a restart. I was GM Head, Character Head, and Rules Head in turn there and I plan to apply those skills to making this a fun and involving experience for all.

I am not a forever GM - my college gaming club (WPI Science Fiction Society) was a pit fight of ambitious GMs and game design majors and you had to hone your pitch and practice your skills if you wanted your game to be memorable. My specialty is that the players can never tell when I'm leading them down a carefully constructed plot line or completely making things up on the fly (the secret is to do a little of both).
