Family History

Toshizo was named after his great-uncle Toshimichi, a legendary cartographer who died completing his maps after inhaling toxic fumes in the Shadowlands. Raised by a veteran Hiruma father and a Kaiu engineer mother, his life was defined by the Wall until his sister was murdered during a journey through Crane territory. Since then, he has turned his scouting skills away from monsters and toward a more personal, shadowy path of investigation.

Physical Description

He has the lean, wiry build of an experienced long-distance runner. Toshizo shuns the traditional Crab face-paint, leaving his face exposed—though he often appears pale or strained due to his chronic "Wall Cough." He wears functional indigo and teal scout armor and is never seen without a charcoal stylus and a battered, ink-stained travel journal hanging from his belt.

Giri and Ninjo

• Giri (Duty): To serve Daimyo Hiruma Kagekatzu as an urban scout in the City of the Rich Frog, providing tactical intelligence and maps to Yasuki Sugu.
• Ninjo (Desire): To hunt down the disgraced Crane duelist-turned-ronin who murdered his sister and is currently hiding among the wave-men of Nanashi Mura.

Hobby and Passions

Toshizo is an obsessive cartographer, sketching every alley, rooftop, and secret path he traverses to combat his Claustrophobia. To soothe his failing lungs, he has developed a deep passion for Onsen (hot springs); he spends his off-hours visiting them and writing detailed, technical reviews in his journal, finding the only "clean" air in the city within the steam.
