Jom (he/him) always knew he was special, but it wasn't until he was 12 that he was identified as a Karsite, a special kind of human cursed with awesomeness by a wrathful goddess. His parents' dreams of having him become a wizard were crushed, but he was quickly accepted as a squire by a knight. The knight was pleased at his talent, durability, and stamina and showed him the Sublime Path. He could never learn the esoteric arts of a paladin, and his temperament was not suited to many other martial paths, but he excelled in the martial arts, especially the rare skill of the die flail.
He and the Knight traveled together for ten years, long after Jom's apprenticeship might have ended, but, in the end, his mentor fell in battle. What treasure they had he left to his mentor's surviving family, leaving him with little more than the equipment of his trade. He now seems to work his way through life and a mercenary.
Weaknesses: Jom is badly nearsighted and cannot reliably use ranged weapons despite his decent dexterity. He also has inhibitions about hitting unarmed opponents due to his knightly training.
