Connor's earliest memory is painted in crimson.
When he was only six years old, his clan was slaughtered in a single night. The people who had raised him—his parents, siblings, teachers, and friends—were all cut down before his eyes. He hid beneath the floorboards of his home, forced to listen as the screams slowly faded into silence.
When the killers finally left, Connor wandered through the burning ruins alone.
That was when Lumiere, a wandering elf, found him.
Rather than leaving the frightened child behind, she carried him to safety, treated his wounds, and stayed with him until he recovered. Though they spent only a short time together, her kindness became the only light remaining in Connor's shattered world.
Before they parted ways, Connor made a promise to himself.
"If I ever meet her again... I'll be the one protecting her."
With nowhere else to go, Connor eventually arrived at Sunward Island, an isolated sanctuary where the legendary Way of Shinobi was taught. There, he dedicated every waking moment to becoming stronger.
His instructors praised his discipline.
His fellow students feared his determination.
Connor trained until his hands bled, mastered the dagger as an extension of his own body, and learned to strike from the shadows with a light crossbow before his enemies even realized he was there.
His original goal never changed.
Find the murderers.
Avenge his clan.
Protect the elf who had once saved him.
But vengeance has a way of changing people.
As the years passed, Connor was no longer simply training.
He was being sent on missions.
At first, the targets were criminals.
Then political enemies.
Then witnesses.
Then anyone who stood between the objective and success.
Every completed mission earned praise.
Every hesitation earned punishment.
Little by little, Connor stopped asking questions.
The ancient Way of Shinobi taught restraint, discipline, honor, and mercy when possible.
Connor abandoned each lesson one after another.
He poisoned wells to eliminate entire camps rather than duel a single target.
He disguised himself as civilians to lure enemies into ambushes.
He killed guards who had surrendered.
He silenced innocents who had merely seen his face.
He learned that fear completed missions faster than honor ever could.
Eventually, there was almost nothing he refused to do.
The mission became everything.
Honor became weakness.
Mercy became hesitation.
Compassion became a liability.
Among the shinobi, Connor earned an infamous reputation—not as the strongest, but as the one willing to cross every line others refused to.
Some admired him.
Most feared him.
His masters considered him their greatest weapon...
...and their greatest failure.
Now, at sixteen years old, Connor has arrived in Dawnport to undertake his first official mission as a Rogue operating beyond Sunward Island.
The city is unfamiliar.
The people are strangers.
The target is waiting.
Yet somewhere deep beneath the ruthless assassin he has become, a single promise still survives—the promise made by a frightened six-year-old boy.
If Connor ever sees Lumiere again...
He will protect her.
Even if the rest of the world must fear him to make that promise come true.
