The Village

Who did you meet?
Kejora - A familiar face — after several journeys together, her presence has become a comforting familiarity.
Yen Sen - A familiar face from the goblin incident — his charisma remains noticeable, and he seems to possess the qualities of someone others naturally follow.
Omii - A familiar face from the goblin incident — still easily frightened, though I find myself unable to ignore her worries. I continue to reassure her whenever fear takes hold.
Morban - A new companion — stern in appearance, but his swift movements reveal a capable fighter.

Skeletons - Enemy turned unexpected allies — not quite what I expected when we were told the village was overtaken by undead.
Goblins - Enemies — different from the goblins we encountered before. Their actions seem connected to something beyond simple destruction.
Hobgoblin - A dangerous presence among the goblins.
Giant Eagle - A powerful creature somehow allied with a hobgoblin
Ogres - Enemies and allied with goblins

What actually happened?

I had been spending some time alone at the tavern when my quiet moment was interrupted by a man suddenly bursting through the entrance, shouting for help. His desperation was enough to gather the attention of those nearby, and soon the party decided to investigate. Apparently, his village had been overtaken by undead. A simple request for aid that quickly became another journey into the unknown.

The man brought us to the village chief, a bald man who explained that skeletons had taken control of the village. What made the situation unusual was that one of these skeletons could speak Common. We travelled to the village and encountered two skeletal guards at the entrance. Rather than fighting, Yen Sen and Kejora attempted a different approach — using music to persuade them. Unexpectedly, it worked. I am beginning to suspect Yen Sen has a strange talent for making even the strangest creatures listen.

Inside the village, we learned that the skeletons had not taken over out of hatred, but simply for their own amusement. Before we could understand more, the two skeletal guards were struck by arrows, and goblins emerged. The battle began soon after. The creatures fought fiercely, and by the end, only a giant eagle and an ogre remained alive while the rest had fallen. Despite our unusual first meeting, I found myself saddened by the loss of the skeletons who had fought beside us.

The surviving skeletons thanked us and suggested cooking the giant eagle, though Yen Sen managed to convince them that perhaps taming it would be a better choice. Soon after, a giant skeleton arrived and revealed the truth behind the conflict — the village had been overrun because the goblins had insulted the giant skeletons. In the end, the skeletons restored the fallen ogre and giant eagle, allowing them another chance at life rather than letting them become another casualty of this conflict.

Personal Note:
This quest reminded me that appearances can be deceiving. I expected the undead to be the threat, yet the truth was far more complicated. The skeletons were not the monsters I imagined, and even creatures I once considered enemies showed signs of reason and purpose. I wonder how often the world is divided by fear before anyone seeks to understand the truth beneath it.

(Where)

A village 30-40 minutes north of Dawnport.

(Who the party met)

1. A group of villager who were chased out of their homes.
2. A group of skeletons.
3. A gang comprised of goblins, ogres, hobgoblins, and a giant eagle.

(What happened)

A man stumbled into the tavern where the party was whiling their time. The man was quickly patched by Yen'Sen, and led the party to where the villagers were taking respite after being chased from their home. The party was informed that their village was taken over by skeletons. One of the skeletons are clad in white and seem to issue commands by speaking. There was also description of big horned skeleton.

After making sure everyone is alright (the villagers are unnaturally unscathed and only sport a few bruises), the party moved onto the village.

At the entrance, the party found two skeletons at the gate who seemed bored. The skeletons let the party through after a performance from both Kejora and Yen'Sen, under the pretense that they calm down the skeleton boss' fury with a soothing performance.

During the performance in front of the boss, the party heard a sound from the front gate. The two skeletons on the front gate was smashed. The party sees Ogres and goblins from their position. Later in the battle, a Giant Eagle airdropped the Goblins from the gate into the village, as the gate was successfully fortified by Kejora's spell. The Giant Eagle also carried a hobgoblin into the fight. The Giant Ogres were only successfully stalled.

After a grueling battle between Subjects 1 & 2 vs Subjects 3 (only two of the skeletons managed to stay standing, and a party member was knocked out once) - Subjects 3 decided to bring the knocked out Ogre and Giant Eagle (Yen'Sen seem to have a strict principle against killing) with them back to their graveyard.

The party went back to Dawnport as the skeletons have vacated the village.

Kejora's Ballad #4: Awakened Bones and Goblin's Descent

At noon a man came, weary from flight,

He spoke of his village in desperate plight.

The party gave aid, with Yen’Sen’s healing hand,

And the man led forth to the elder’s stand.

 

The elder bald, with voice forlorn,

Told of a giant, horn-adorned.

And skeleton ranks, both fierce and grim,

A skeletal lord, clad in white, commanding them.

 

North of Dawnport, the village lay,

Where the party makes the way.

 

Kejora’s song rose soft and bright,

While Yen’Sen danced in joyful light.

The party thought to entertain,

A skeletal lord, not to be slain.

 

Yet battle broke with goblin rain,

Air-dropped fury, chaos reigned.

One hobgoblin, ogres three,

A great eagle, soared with majesty.

 

When clash was done and quiet lay,

The minotaur led eagle and ogre on their way.

 

Returned to the graveyard — the skeletons’ home.

Thus ends the tale of clash and roam.

Who did you meet?

What actually happened?
A villager barged into the tavern screaming for help which was immediately answered by the Party and was led towards the Village that the Villagers was kicked out from. They were told that a group of Undead (Skeletons) had came and took over the Village, kicking out all of the residence.

Upon arrival, it was revealed that the Undead are those that can be conversed with and had filled in the party with the missing context which is that the Villagers had started screaming against the Undeads, out of rage, the Undead removed them out of their abode as well as due to the Undead being chased after a group of Goblin and Ogres.

The party ended up helping the Undeads by fighting against the Goblin and Ogres, winning after a thorough battle. Yen'Sen seems to have taken the most brunt of the hits and damage, falling unconscious and was then healed by Kejora. The battle soon ends with the Giant Eagle being the Undead's new pet.
