Alsie was born headstrong and impulsive, a concerning mix. She always explored, especially places she was told to stay away from. This impulse to explore is what drove her to join the guild.

With academics being so impressed upon kids, Alsie had a hard time growing up. She was smart but didn't know how to apply it and her impulsivity often got the best of her, especially when bullies started to go after her little sister, Daisy. That's how Alsie became a "soldier". She wasn't one in the traditional sense, being too young to really get into that profession for long. She defended her sister, learning by watching guys fight and sneaking in to watch the soldiers train. She practiced wherever she could with whatever she could find, often times accidentally hitting things and knocking them off tables. The Kinley patriarch, Dmitri, died in the cyclone while playing storm chaser. Alsie certainly got her impulsivity and sense of adventure from him, but her fierce protectiveness from her mother, Aleah. She is determined to be the first to see an aerowhale.

She grew up near the border of the slums, not quite in low class, but not solidly in the middle class either. This meant she was able to find scuffles to practice the moves she saw others using. While she did finish school, she barely scraped by. However her sister Daisy, is a prodigy. She is incredibly intelligent and adding that to her incredibly small stature, Daisy got picked on a lot. Alsie worries about her constantly, but figures she should be safe now that she's out of normal school and is studying under higher academic types, some of whom are in the Council of Advisors.
