Elektra Breshna was born beneath a sky that never seemed truly quiet. An Air Genasi by birth, Elektra grew up among Storm Giants, far from the bustling cities and crowded roads of the lowlands. The Storm Giants became her family, and their towering homes among the mountains became the world she knew. To Elektra, thunder was not frightening, lightning was not an omen, and the wind was not something to be conquered. They were simply part of the world. From her Storm Giant family, Elektra learned to respect the forces of nature rather than seek to control them. She came to follow the Old Faith, learning that the natural world was filled with spirits worthy of respect. The mountain, the wind, the rain, and the storm could all possess a presence of their own. Nature was not something to worship as a collection of distant gods, but something to live alongside and honor. Lightning, however, became something more personal. Elektra learned that she could channel it. At first, it was little more than sparks dancing across her fingertips. With time and practice, she learned to draw electricity into herself and release it through her body. She learned how to withstand lightning that would cripple another person and discovered that the electricity did not simply pass through her—it became part of her. Eventually, she learned that she could push herself even further. When Elektra enters her rage, she doesn't simply become angry. She charges. The air around her begins to crackle, her hair lifts in the gathering static, and lightning crawls across her body and armor as the energy builds inside her. Then she moves. She hits like thunder, leaps like a lightning strike, and carries the storm with her. Her abilities eventually became those of a Lightning Vessel, a warrior capable of containing and unleashing tremendous electrical energy. Elektra embraced this naturally, seeing no contradiction between her martial fury and the teachings of the Old Faith. The storm was wild, powerful, and sometimes needed somewhere to go. But eventually, the mountains could no longer be the entirety of her world. Elektra heard of Springreach, a city filled with travelers, merchants, strange people, and—most importantly—adventurers. There were dangers beyond the mountains that could not be found by simply waiting for the next storm to arrive. There were places she had never seen, creatures she had never encountered, and people who knew nothing of the world she had grown up in. So Elektra decided to leave. Not because she had abandoned her home, not because she rejected the Storm Giants who raised her, and certainly not because she had abandoned the Old Faith. She simply wanted to see what lay beyond the horizon. With her weapons, her armor, and the storm inside her, Elektra Breshna set out for Springreach. The city would soon learn that a storm had arrived.
