Players:
In the halls of the Realmkeep, five adventurers knelt before Archmage Astor Halflight and rose as Knights of the Realm: Blue, a half-elf paladin sworn to justice; Mixy, a sharp-eyed black dragonborn rogue; Bram, a human druid attuned to the wild; Thorn Savage, a white dragonborn paladin of unshakable resolve; and Soka, a half-elf ranger with an eye for danger before it arrives.
Their first assignment was simple enough on paper: escort five squires to the Court of the Crescent Moon to be outfitted with arms, armor, and the materials of their new station.
Simple did not survive contact with the road. Goblins of the Wardog Tribe struck the caravan without warning, shattering it with alchemist's fire. The knights fought back fiercely, but the ambush was brutal — four of the five squires fell. Only one survived: Helion, a fourteen-year-old boy who fought with a courage far beyond his years until the knights cut their way to him and pulled him free.
In the ambush's aftermath, scouts from the Tin Ear Tribe — bitter rivals of the Wardogs — approached the knights with an offer: help us bring down this growing goblin horde. The knights agreed, but pressed their own terms. In exchange for their aid, the Tin Ear Tribe would pay them in gold and forge a formal alliance with Isanduril, the Ivory City. The goblins accepted.
The Tin Ear Tribe warned them of a coming atrocity: the Wardogs intended to raid a tiefling settlement in the Red Ghetto — not for plunder, but for the worgs the tieflings raised there. The knights were to meet a Tin Ear contact on the ground, a goblin known as Boggart Big Teeth.
Setting out through the unclaimed wilds of Azor, the Realm City, the knights were ambushed by bandits and traced them back to a fortified settlement. Wary of stretching themselves thin, they chose not to storm it, keeping their focus on the tieflings who needed them more urgently.
They reached the Red Ghetto — so named for the blood of an ancient dragon that died there centuries ago, its stain still marking the district's stones. The knights threw themselves into the settlement's defense as the Wardogs descended. It was a bloody, desperate fight, and the knights barely escaped with their lives. Half the settlement did not.
In the wreckage, they struck a bargain with Eldorin, leader of the tieflings: the knights would take all the settlement's worgs, and in return, the tieflings would be granted safe passage and a new home in Isanduril. Eldorin agreed.
Before returning, the knights found Boggart Big Teeth — bound, beaten, and left for dead by bandits. They freed him, and he gave them grave news: Krenko Tin Boss, leader of the Tin Ear Tribe, wished to speak with them directly, eager to see the horde broken.
Boggart also revealed the true shape of the threat. The Wardogs are no longer just a tribe — they are the vanguard of Pyre, a red demon uniting the scattered goblin tribes of Azor's neutral lands under one banner: Pyre's Wardogs. Thousands of goblins are said to be massing already, gathering at an old temple fortress in the Gray Ward.
The knights brought Boggart and the tiefling survivors back to Isanduril, securing their settlement within the city's walls. Every tiefling able to fight would join Isanduril's military, and the city would provide them protection in turn.
At session's end, the knights cast their vote unanimously: Helion, the boy who survived when no other squire did, would be knighted alongside them.
