Haphazardly stretching up from the ground, the twisted amalgamation of slums known as the Crawl reaches up and across the walls.
Far from safe or stable, the slums are known to be the cheapest and most vile places to live in Vye. Slumlords rule with discretion, changing rent as wanted and ordering victims of fires - often caused by poor construction or other residents - for paying for their own repairs before exiting contracts.
Crime is rampant, and security an illusion. The only way to remain safe is to be better at concealing your valuables than the thugs strolling freely are at finding them. Resistance is an assurance of pain.
The City Guard mostly turns a blind eye to these places, only venturing in when specifically ordered to. The patrolling Guard are given altered schedules by criminal organisations, ensuring they are not to tread on their business. The City Guard who do not frequently patrol are often used to what they see, expecting bribes to turn the other way.
Corruption, crime and all manner of inhumane acts occur here frequently.
