Unified only after the Trailing War, the settlements that make up Retal are those who remained impartial to Mereta's war against Vye and the Coalition. Retal is ruled by their Champion, a title that passes on through challenged combat. The Champion is held responsible for destroying the cursed monstrosities that frequently emerge from their forests, caves and shores.

Due to the frequency of these attacks, development has been slow for Retal, but its agriculture has gradually grown. It still holds some significance in terms of trade due to its access of expensive alchemy ingredients from the cursed lands within. Some of the ingredients are unique to these territories.
