The one constant within Vye for as long as anyone can remember is the House of Secrets. The emphasis should be on memory, for it is only ever recalled through spoken word. Any records of it are systematically acquired and destroyed every five years to prevent any investigations from coming close to prosecution.
It is the hub from which every rumour, secret and crime passes through. Entry is restricted to those introduced by an already trusted individual who is then held accountable. If someone breaks the Rule of the House, the one who introduced them to the House, and the one who introduced that person to the house, are all placed on the blacklist.
Aside from this manner, it is also a hub of resources and wealth. It has strong affilitation and funding from and to multiple influential factions and guilds.
The House and its business is overseen by the Hosts, four individuals who run everything.
The House of Secrets itself requires significant planning and organisation to run. As a 24/7 'establishment', work never finishes. As such House Agents are used to keep everything in order. They liason with and direct the Traders and Caterers to ensure resources and comforts are maintained and never stop flowing.
Additionally, the House Agents also utilise Bribery Agents to maintain the Houses influence in local affairs.
One of the essential services the House of Secrets offers is Sanctuary. This term is more complicated in reality than it may suggest. With the use of Smugglers, resources and individuals can be moved from one location to another with the upmost discretion and speed. For more overt situations, Guardians can ensure safety in matters.
For matters needing more definitive endings, the House of Secrets also enlists their own Assassins.
Far from cheap, these services are for the most elite or desperate, but they are excellent value. Sanctuary Agents ensure these matters are dealt with while never endangering clients or colleagues secrecy.
Influence and knowledge are the central trade of the House, and this is managed by the Whisperers. They ensure the distribution of information, when needed without prevocation, is done so to the Hosts design.
They also manage the Scouts, who find new talent and resources of use to the House, the Listeners, who are professional acquirers of valuable knowledge, and the Plants, who are placed within key positions of influence to ensure matters move smoothly and the flow of information is steady.
