Public Character Knowledge:
Small known fighter, his reputation isnt known yet and will be one for him to tell or not tell
Ser Garrick Grennard hails from a largely unknown village. Its here where his family served as protectors of the village for over a century, but they were not the lords. Garricks family come from humble origins, rich in purpose but not material wealth. There was simply not enough to go around in the village. Garrick was raised to follow his familys past, serve their sister house of sorts well and defend his peoples. That was what he was raised to do, but that quickly changed years into his life. He showed potential unseen from others in his family, his ability with a sword was not just a basic soldier but above that. And while in the grand scheme of things his ability was probably not impressive, in this small village it definitely was. People would ask to see him spar.
His reputation would be challenged when the village was raided, and sure enough he would live up to the expectations. Expelling the raiders and at just age 16 he was the one who was credited with the defense of the village. But these raiders would come back later, and much harder many times. The quality of living degraded. And they arrived one day with an army double the population of the village and simply said "give us the fighter". House Woodard denied, as in many senses Garrick was like a nephew to the Lord. But it was Garrick himself who would give himself up for his people, and leave to protect his village on one request, that they hurt them no more. They agreed and Garrick left his hometown. It was an odd request, in fact the raiders didnt even want to imprison him. They wanted his eye for blades, he'd serve as a blacksmith for their army for years to come. Creating weapons and guiding raiders on how to use them
It was upon his 23rd where the Raiders became the prey, a raid on their village provided the cover for Garrick to sneak upon a wagon and ride out with his belongings and set out for new lands to make a name for himself, but not before showing face at home one final time giving them the steel and coin hed taken on his way out.
He boarded a wagon heading to a city when a massive storm struck, the wagon was pushed into the sea from the flooding from local hills and he was knocked out cold. He woke up with largely nothing on a coast of a new city, remembering only the key details regarding himself and the motivation that served him. But the reason for the motivation was unknown to him.
Nowadays Garrick can be found doing odd jobs in Underhaven trying to make the most of his life. From mercenary work to pick up jobs, he often can be found taking jobs from Erali Thorne. Meeting her around Underhaven in a different spot everytime, hes a routine employee for her but knows her not super closely. In that line of work you need arms, and with his experience in smithing hes often found himself helping out Shana Melt. He has an eye, but nowhere near hers, and Garrick has tried to get close to learn from Shana. Hes a frequent buyer from her when he has the coin and also has helped her acquire materials and test the weaponry from time to time. If youre trying to find Garrick checking there a few times a week will get you far.
Garrick is an overly hopeful human, who seeks to fight to help all who need it. His time with outsiders makes him cautious of people he may not know so well, and tries to act carefully around those who he knows not. Garrick is a well trained fighter, who will protect those around him above all but also at points to a detriment. It seems at times he is bound to be the slayer or the slayed.
