Byggbyrd is a 22 year old local of Underhaven, having grown up there. He was born to two loving bugbear parents, and despite being lower-class he could never get over his yearning for more. As a child he often ran through the town talking the ears off of anyone who would listen. He regularly visited library in his youth, where Professor Mortimer would assist him in finding his favorite stories -- ones of knights that save kingdoms and battle dragons.
His love for theatrical chivalry carried into adult-hood and he even resolved to be a knight at the completely normal and not strange age of 19. He taught himself how to fight, copying both mannerisms and fighting style from the many story books he'd taken home from the library -- which he swears he'll return... one of these days. Unfortunately for him his fighting style was missing one thing: a horse. All of the knights in his books galloped atop great steeds, holding large lances, he had the lance -- even if it did look like a glorified toothpick in his massive grip -- but he lacked the steed, a problem that still persists, as to his horror he is too large and heavy to be able to ride atop a horse without crushing it. So he adapted his fighting style temporarily, instead of charging on horseback he taught himself a knockoff telekinesis spell and flings himself through the air to mimic riding a horse.
Byggbyrd is large and intimidating, but his frame masks kind eyes and a kinder personality. He's usually quite clumsy, with the exception of when he's fighting. His kindness is evident in his immense gullibility, he could likely be convinced that he actually is riding an invisible horse when he launches himself. So gullible in fact that he was one of the first people convinced to trying out Grampy Paws' cooking experiments, and while he'd like to say he'd never do it again, he could probably be convinced.
