Cyrus is usually seen carrying a Thri-Kreen on her back, many assume Tal'kik to be mind controlling her
Cyrus Kathnas grew up in the dark, and was taught how to string a bow and how to not hurt herself while using it. She started to shoot arrows at more impractical ranges, improving her technique. Cyrus started needing more space to practice, she began to travel, learning to hunt in the caves, taking advantage of her natural abilities to see in unlit areas to shoot small critters from across the caverns. Eventually, she heard rumors of a cook by the name of Grampy Paws, who would make gormet food from unknown ingredients, and being not adversed to eating bugs or small critters, as is normal for one of feline origins, she began to track him down, becoming a regular visitor of his. To Cyrus, Grampy Paws was less a person and more a reliable source of free meals, and she returned to him out of appetite rather than affection. On one of these visits, she met Tal'kik, a Thri-kreen warlock, and assuming she must be someone that Grampy knew, resisted her feline urges to kill her.
After the meal, the two grew close, chosing to combine their skills and work as a team, Cyrus would track their prey, and Tal'kik being the brains and negotiator, occasionally stepping in to help with larger prey. During a recent hunt, Cyrus's bow would be broken, forcing her to discard it and return to her primal roots, relying much more on Tal'kik for range until she could manage to acquire another bow. After losing their prey, and returning empty handed, Tal'kik gave her a training manual, so she could take her time without a bow to refine her unstable skills, and tasked her with teaching Julius Irons what she knew (and was still learning) about archery. Julius Irons, in her eyes, was not a companion but simply another task assigned by Tal’kik, something to complete, not someone to care about. This coaching experience further enforced Cyrus's attachment to Tal'kik, proving to her that brainpower is just as important of a survival skill as the ability to chase after food in the dark. To this day, she still is seen traveling with Tal'kik, occasionally carrying her piggyback, but the amount of restraint she demonstrates shows just how much she has learned from her mentor.
