Hi everyone I am Alyss (Pronounced like Alice). I have been dming for over 20 years now through various systems (1e, 2e/ADnD, 3e, 3.5e, 4e, Pathfinder 1&2e, etc.), so my dming tends to take a lot of elements from different systems. While I am getting better at using maps for the most part I am a Theater of the Mind style DMing so I tend to lean on that. Below is the house rules I will use the most and will clarify if needed.
Combat to me as a DM is a ballet between players and encounter, where the ballet music is a puzzle. Each encounter has a certain weakness/environmental trigger/damage threshold that when found can make fights easier. Not all encounters are built like this as sometimes the story doesn't call for it.
- DM HOUSE RULES/NOTES:
- I do flanking and ranged flanking (When an ally is within 5ft of a creature that creature has the threatened status.) Instead of it being Adv I do +5 to rolls against the creature. Be mindful Monsters can use this as well.
- Otherwise I tend to stick to standard DnD rules.
- This will use theater of the mind.
- This mission is heavily based around roleplay.
- You get may prebuff once for free that is longer than 10 mins. 10 mins or lower you may prebuff using the resource.
- Potions to self are BA, but to give to another person is an Action
- Any magical effects can not be non lethal (smites etc.)
