Aleister the Red, the bravest parasite the world has ever produced; once an ordinary leech it gained sentience after bitting an archmage who was drunkly walking bare feet in a swamp hunting for fairies. Legend has that after waking up the next day they saw a leech which had grown to the size of a dog thanks to the magic in the archmage's blood; rather then admiting the blunder they took the leech to a magical academy where over a couple of years it took the appearence and inteligence of a human while maintaining its taste for blood. Curious mages whith too much time in their hands have socialized and educated the now humanoid leech who was classified as a dhampyr* and named after the man who it bit, Aleister the Blue. Now a century or so later the legal department has deemed Aleister the Red a sentient being who cannot be kept in captivity for study, plus his diet had become hard to upkeep as it requires fresh blood and live animals and magic don't mix all too well.
