Friendly & Approachable
Despite his intimidating appearance, Xalen is actually quite easy to talk to. He enjoys meeting new people and tends to treat strangers with kindness unless they give him a reason not to.

Clever, But Not Arrogant
He's intelligent and has a talent for noticing details, loopholes, and inconsistencies, but he doesn't constantly remind everyone how clever he is. He'll happily let people underestimate him.
He also occasionally gets a little too confident in his ability to talk his way out of things.

Cheeky & Playful
Xalen has a dry sense of humor and enjoys teasing people, especially when they're taking themselves too seriously. He can be surprisingly mischievous when the opportunity presents itself.

Calm Under Pressure
He's not easily intimidated. Having dealt with a devil, most normal threats don't impress him much.
He tends to stay calm when things go wrong and prefers to think before acting, but once someone he cares about is threatened, he'll act immediately.

Protective
His greatest motivation is making sure that the people around him don't end up in the helpless position he once found himself in.
He doesn't want to be a hero for glory. He simply doesn't want to stand by when someone needs help.

Curious
His experiences with the devil left him fascinated by magic, contracts, and the nature of pacts. Now that he is free, he wants to understand the magic he once relied upon.
He doesn't want to borrow power ever again.
He wants to understand it, master it, and make it his own.

A Little Too Confident in Negotiations
His greatest flaw is probably that he genuinely believes he can negotiate his way through almost anything.
He successfully outsmarted a devil once.
Now he sometimes forgets that not everything is a contract.
He has absolutely tried to negotiate with people who were clearly planning to kill him.
Sometimes it works.
Sometimes his party has to physically stop him.
