Perseverance is a tall, broad-built tiefling with charcoal grey skin. His horns rise in strong, uneven curves from his brow, and his pale blue eyes glow with a steady, unflinching intensity. White hair, worn slightly wild, and a short, full beard to frame his face
He dresses in dark, fitted garments beneath a white and gold-trimmed cloak, giving him the unmistakable bearing of a priest or judge. At his side hangs a symbol of balance, while one hand often carries a softly smoking censer, and the other rests on a heavy, practical weapon.
There is nothing ostentatious about him, only quiet authority. He looks like someone who has endured, been tested, and now walks forward with purpose, neither seeking attention nor avoiding it.
Perseverance was born a tiefling, though in youth, he appeared almost human. That changed the night his home burned. The fire took his parents, but not him. Instead, it revealed him, his skin turned charcoal grey, his fiendish traits finally surfacing as the flames failed to claim him.
Believed dead, he was buried alongside his family.
He woke beneath the earth and clawed his way free, only to be met with fear. The villagers believed him to be undead and called the priests of Kelemvor to destroy him. The priests saw the truth: he was alive, not risen. They took him in and raised him in their faith, teaching him the natural order of life and death.
In time, he left their care, carrying a quiet purpose. Perseverance now walks the line between life and death, helping the dying pass with dignity, ensuring the living remain so for as long as they should and ensuring that those who return from the grave do so for the right reasons.
