Unlike most drow, Arania is quirky, bubbly, and cheerful. She is not wise at all, but always has a joke to crack or a song to sing. Standing at only 4'10", she likes to skimp on clothing, wearing mainly whites and light purples, her signature clothing item being a large white pointed hat, which matches nicely with the white braided hair underneath and the large lavender eyes.

Arania is an escapee from a major drow city in the Underdark, because she got tired of drow politics and wanted to dedicate her life to music. Her dream is to have her own band. But in lieu of any living members, she wants to create a skeleton band, which she will call Cante Macabre. She doesn't have any skeletons yet, but hopes to steal the secret to creating them from a necromancer.

Arania was born Arnithia Zanasta, to a family of high profile assassins. She was raised to become one herself, but turned out to not be cut out for it. On her first job, her mark turned out to be a rival assassin, who wanted to have her current identity die. So she did so, abandoning her life as an assassin and turning to her second interest: music. From then on she was known by her pseudonym, Arania Subrosia, and would dedicate the rest of her life to studying the bardic arts.
