Backstory:

Betreline Emberpike

Being born into this world in a family of outgoing, hard-working dwarves, Betreline Emberpike was raised to be an aspiring workaholic and a trustworthy friend. However, throughout her life, she took a liking to loneliness. The constant pressure of her family, the feeling of expectation and the exposure to so much social work made her decide to escape her little cave house, choosing to venture into the wild. Of course, she left a note and took some essentials with her, plus the tinkering tools she learned how to use recently.

After a few years of pursuit after that peaceful life she desired, she found out that pure, undisturbed loneliness was going to lead her to insanity and suffering. And so, she sought to find a friend or two. However, unfortunately for her, the time she spent isolated and alone has caused her to be cursed, as she could no longer feel safe or calm in social situations, and would feel pain from prolonged exposure (basically social anxiety but as a curse that damages her if left unchecked). Since real social interactions couldn’t go any more wrong for her, she decided to instead build her own friend. But it was going to be more than a friend, as it was also going to be a helper, explorer, merchant, bodyguard, etc. And so, with the few tools at her disposal, she began constructing Keahorn, the warforged (she came up with the name after hearing a horn sound outside. This moment was memorable to her because she doesn’t usually hear anything other than nature, so she wanted to encapsulate that moment)

In the many years following this decision, she would put an effort into constructing this companion to perfection. She even found out how to make a warforged have an actual soul. However, she didn’t expect that the curse would extend to beings that are created by oneself. Shortly after the construct was given life, she started feeling that harrowing emotion again. Regardless, she tried to force herself to keep working on them despite the discomfort. But it quickly became clear that her endurance was running dry, and she could no longer ignore the problem, as she started avoiding interaction for months.
