Aurelian Thorne is a man who should have ended centuries ago.
He was once a paladin in service to Valecar, a god of silence, chains, and final judgment; an austere faith that believed law was mercy given structure and that some sentences, once passed, must be carried out without hatred or pleasure. When Valecar fell, his final judgment was never completed. That unfinished divine law did not disappear. It attached itself to Aurelian, who was in the act of carrying it out. The god died. The sentence did not.
Because of this, Aurelian does not age. Time does not claim him while the judgment remains unresolved. He is not immortal; he can be wounded, broken, and killed like any other mortal, but the slow erosion of years alone will not end him. Each time he enacts judgment through his blade, Final Word, the condition stabilizes, deferring decay and frailty. If he ever abandons judgment entirely, the centuries he has outlived will arrive all at once.
Aurelian is quiet, exacting, and terrifyingly calm. He does not seek glory, vengeance, or salvation. Violence, to him, is administrative: the conclusion of a process already decided. He does not hate the guilty, and he does not relish punishment, he simply finishes what reality has already begun. He walks the world not as a hero or a villain, but as an unresolved conclusion: a law still standing, a sentence that refuses to end, waiting for the moment it is finally allowed to stop.
