Backstory:
Aurox was raised by the gladiatorial rings of Nemisa City as Venatio livestock. Great heroes of the arena require great beasts and foes to slay for their artificial glory, and minotaurs like Aurox always fetch a fair price as prime stock for slaughter; if they lose, it's a spectacle, if they win, it's a greater challenge for the next champion. Life as arena stock was cruel and brutal slavery, financed by the bloodthirsty mob, and enforced by sadistic masters.
Aurox was raised as a bull of the captive herd with his older brother, Turox. Turox had survived into his own championship, and earned privileges not normally given to minotaurs considered little more than animals, but he knew his time to die would come, sooner or later. Rather than continue the cycle of slavery and oppression, Turox and Aurox desired freedom above pleasures afforded by the arenas.
The two planned their escape with a mix of cunning, sleight of hand, and brute force. Unfortunately, the masters realized the bulls deception earlier than planned but late enough to rush. A haphazard plot allowed Aurox alone to break his chains, while the herd were recaptured. For his treachery, Turox was gelded and slaughtered for a roaring crowd, as a message.
Aurox could never forgive a system of bondage and abuse for the entertainment of the mob. He could never forgive the masters who murdered his brother so disrespectfully. his hooves stood in the blood of the innocent and the guilty alike, and they could not carry him an inch away from the cause of freeing his kin, and all slaves and oppressed peoples. With little but the ceremonial butcher's blade, the symbol of oppression by the herd, Aurox took the name Chain-Breaker, and set out upon his quest of vengeance and liberation.
