Expected Duration: 3-5 hours (May be shorter, hopefully not longer. If it reaches 5 hours, I'll probably forcefully stop the combat.)
Someone finally got his arm back! And he needs to catch up on the fun everyone else has been having.
Quick note: With Cole's resurgence, Sparring Matches will now follow a new format according to what I planned for the World Boss version. This is a testing phase, so I would appreciate feedbacks.
DM Table Rules:
2014 Grapple rules.
For the time being, Sparring Matches will follow the WB prebuff rules: Only spells that have a duration of 8 hours or more, and are level 3 or lower. Upcasting of those spells is allowed. But higher base level spells, such as Heroes' Feast and Foresight, are not allowed to be cast "freely" as a prebuff. They must be cast in-quest, expending their resources. This includes spells from items, such as from Enspelled Weapons/Staffs/Armours. Class freatures and other effects that last 8+ hours are also allowed as prebuffs.
Flanking on opposite sides will give advantage. Even with more than 2 attackers, there still needs to be at least a pair in opposite sides, though in that case, everyone will get the advantage. Please don't make a conga-line though.
Potions are BA.
Rule of Cool and RP/flavor-based skills are definitely a thing in my quests to an extent. And if you feel like your build isn't doing much for the quest, I'm open to changing the rules slightly. I want people to have fun in my quests, not sit there doing nothing because your build needs a specific trigger for it to happen.
Drawing Aggro is very much a thing I use in my quests. You do something to draw aggro of someone in RP, and it will carry over to combat. Example, Blake is aggroed to Asami in the sparring matches for the foreseeable future. Tanks, make use of this. Squishies... try not to piss anyone off.
Note: I'm not here aiming to kill everyone, and this is a non-lethal sparring match anyway. If your hp reaches 0, you will not perform any death saving throws and will instantly be stabilized. You may still roll a d20 each turn and see if you get a 20, and if you do, you get back up with 1 hp, as per the usual rules. You will get full rewards no matter what unless you leave the quest halfway.
If you be an ass and try to kill them though, well... remember that they will have backup and are not shy about going lethal.
