Mitra-Satsil died in the earliest waves of fighting during the Age of Cataclysms, as his overly-ambitious nature led him to his doom in battle against overwhelming forces (most scholars agree that the titan Azaktef the Chaos Serpent slew Mitra-Satsil). This tenacious deity reappeared in the world later as the Gildense goddess Mitra the Wyrm of Life and Death, a woman-headed, limbless wyrm; this incomplete, altered version of the deity eventually met her demise in conflict with a titan. Many centuries later, during the Battle of Bazagon, in the Infernal War, Mitra-Satsil reincarnated as a result of a great synchronicity involving several supernatural events. He appeared as a colossal dragon god and led the victory against the archfiend Nergoy and his forces. After increasing assault from the primal spirits of the Ethereal and pressure from the gods (particularly Tessari’dekhana), he ascended the world to dwell in a great palace on the Astral Plane.

The religion Mithralianism arose due to Mitra-Satsil’s reincarnation. While he did not command its institution, he is pleased that so many are acting according to his influence. The Path of Majesty instructs its adherents to contend boldly with fate and to rise to greater states of being through adventure and feats of daring. Balancing Mitra-Satsil’s fierce and harsh nature is his surprising generosity, often bestowing gifts upon those who undertake risks against frightening odds.

In the current day, Mitra-Satsil and Illus the Lantern are the only two gods to have reincarnated. Many consider them the two most powerful gods.
