About Me.
I have been DMing for over a decade, primarily 5e Dungeons and Dragons. I also have experience with 4e, 3.5e, 3e, and 2AD&D. I use Foundry VTT for my games, but I also am comfortable in Tabletop Simulator, Owlbear Rodeo, Roll20, and D&D Beyond. If you need someone to help you create a character, world, magic item, or art, hit me up!
I am a DM who wholeheartedly believes that any element of the story should revolve around the players enjoyment and engagement with the story. I will not force, coerce, impose, or manipulate the players into anything; any NPC interaction with your characters is in the narrative alone. My sessions are designed to be robust and allow for your agency, not my NPCs' (please don't try to mangle it though).
I typically feature all elements of common D&D (humor, puzzles, combat, horror, drama, etc.), but my specialty lies in the mythic and grand just as much as the dark and horrifying. This will lead to intense and dramatic moments that I want you to remember for years. I do voices, I do NPC stories, I do real feelings. You should never meet a cookie cutter in my worlds.
I favor roleplay in most sessions, about a 70/30 ratio. I run shorter, decisive combats filled with narrative impact. In gauntlets, this is flipped, with combat being the stage on which roleplay is performed.
Lastly, not all of my stories are warm and fuzzy, but as a DM I will always be kind. If you aren't comfortable at the table, I want to help. Never hesitate to speak when you have something to say, your feelings and enjoyment are more important than any fictitious quest or story.
Virtual Tabletop
I use Foundry VTT and host my own servers. At session start, you will be provided a way to connect. This is not to be shared or saved. Anyone who uses my servers for anything other than D&D will be permanently banned from my sessions.
I will do my best to ensure your character sheets and items are transferred to the table before session begins. You are responsible for taking that information away from the table. After sessions, the table will be reset; any character information will be deleted.
All rolls will be made on Foundry.
Graphic/Triggering Content
As previously said, your enjoyment and comfortability at my table are paramount. I will never include sexual content, domestic abuse, or suicide. I tread carefully when writing heavy, real-life issues. If at any time you feel like you want out, don't stay silent. I will completely rewrite a session to avoid triggers. Please let me know before sessions what content you would like to have omitted, censored, or obscured.
Player Behavior
I try to run a tight ship. Below is a non-exhaustive list on what I encourage and discourage. I don't run a strikes system; I give a warning and then take action. I withhold the right to decide what is appropriate based on my subjective analysis. This an open experience for the community; if you are ruining the game for myself or other players, you will be asked to step away.
| DO | DO NOT |
|---|---|
| Analyze your surroundings. Everything I make has multiple angles to be approached. | Interrupt myself or others to joke, distract, or take the spotlight. |
| Remind me/educate me on rules and items. | Argue or overrule my decisions. I may not be perfect, but one of my specialties is balancing numbers and narrative. |
| Expect curated music, images, and encounters. | Be an intrusive spectator. |
| Look for alternate solutions to problems. | Spend every turn finding mathematically perfect actions. I don't DM 4e anymore for this reason. |
| Use your player agency. | Break the game, ruin other players' fun, encourage a DM vs Player experience, or cheat. |
| Provide narrative flavor to otherwise common actions. This can earn heroic inspiration and situational bonuses. | Spend several minutes narrating how your character would eat soup, for the third time this session. |
| Distinguish between player actions and character actions. | Treat D&D like a video game where all you have are buttons. Immerse yourself and speak/act as a living participant. |
