Agnes Lupa was the perfect daughter. So ordinary, pious, and well-behaved, nobody ever gave her a second thought.
Born into humble beginnings, she lived with her family in a small... not even a village, just a few houses on a road. Her family specialized in raising livestock like chickens and pigs, but her task was to tend the sheep. Every morning, she would wander with them far away from the road and civilization, up to the edge of the forest, even if she herself never went in. Good girls didn't go into the forest.
Here, Agnes spent her time woodcarving, caring for the sheep, but most importantly, studying the nature around her. But every time her search for rare or magical plants took her back to the edge of the forest, where she tried to look inside the green, but she never saw much beyond the shadows. And every time, a strange feeling would start in her chest. She didn't know what it was or where it came from. But one day, she realized: she wasn't satisfied with her life... She was always longing for the edge of the woods, for that strange feeling in her chest.
So when her parents wanted her to marry into a good family in a neighbouring town, she grabbed her coat and staff and left everything behind, searching for that strange feeling.
