Tavion Dreamshard was born in the coastal town of Coldshore, a rugged settlement built where the Ichorian tides crash against towering sea cliffs. The Dreamshard family lived on the outskirts, tucked between the coastal forests and the spray of the open sea. His father, Harrin Dreamshard, served as Coldshore’s game warden for decades—protecting the forests, wetlands, and the strange, magical wildlife that drifted in from deeper inland. His mother, Elira, kept the family’s small homestead and fish-smoker running.
Tavion grew up as the third child, much younger than his siblings. By the time he was old enough to help around the homestead, his brother (Calen) and sister (Mara) were already deep into their own lives. Tavion was often left to wander the rocky shores and dense coastal woods alone. It was there he met the local druids, a reclusive but friendly order who respected Harrin’s work and sometimes worked alongside him. They noticed Tavion’s calm presence, his patience, and his uncanny ability to find paths others overlooked. Over time, Tavion learned the basics of reading the winds, speaking with the shifting coastal spirits, and listening to the rhythm of the wild.
When Tavion reached adulthood, he began training formally as a ranger under his father’s former colleagues. But Harrin’s health—worn by years of weather, magical toxins from the deep jungle, and old injuries—began to deteriorate. Tavion tried to balance training with caring for him, but the family’s finances were becoming increasingly strained. His older siblings could only provide so much.
So Tavion made a decision: he would take to the road, not for glory, but for practical necessity. Adventuring paid well, and if he could send coin home, his parents wouldn’t have to struggle. Yet he’d be lying if he said that was the only reason. Wanderlust tugged at him. The stories told by traveling druids and sailors filled him with a quiet but unwavering desire to see the world beyond Coldshore.
And thus, Tavion Dreamshard set out—shortsword at one hip, scimitar at the other, and dreams sharper than either blade.
