Available to anybody who hasn't done a Monster Gauntlet yet.
You will face a lineup of increasingly powerful monsters in one on one combat in an enclosed thirty foot wide, fifteen foot tall cage.
Lineup and Intended Level: Goblin Warrior (level 1), Gnoll (level 2), Lion (level 3), Ogre (level 4), Quaggoth (level 5), Owlbear (level 6), Minotaur (level 7), Bulette (level 8), Oni (level 9), Hydra (level 10), Adult Chromatic Dragon (level 12, stats of a Red Dragon, though element is rolled randomly)
Scoring: One Triumph Point is awarded for each monster bested. If the monster is above your Level you get 1 Valor Point after the first round facing it, and a second Valor Point if you defeat it.
XP: XP is handled using classic XP, except for the dragon which is worth half its full XP amount if slain.
Prep Time: Upon entering the preparation phase, all buffs and active spells on you will be dismissed, and all summons, servants, pets, etc. will be sent away or unsummoned. You will then have 10 minutes to prepare, cast spells, use buffs, etc.
Summons: Summons and additional creatures are strictly prohibited in this game mode. There is an exception made for Myth of the Sovereign Paragons, Pact of the Chain Warlocks, and Beastmaster Rangers, which are allowed to bring in their companions or Chain Familiar. Cavalier Fighters are given a Warhorse as their mount for the duration of the session. Rests: You are permitted two Short Rests throughout the gauntlet, which you can choose to take between monsters. Whenever you take one of these Short Rests, you regain one of your Consumable Item uses.
Retreat: You can retreat at any time during your turn, as long as you are conscious. This immediately ends the session. If you fall unconscious, there is no one to save you, and unless you revive on your own, you will die.
Deck of Many Things: Boons, curses, and items gained from The Deck of Many Things or the Deck of Many More Things have no effect in this contest. Boons gained otherwise apply as normal.
Consumables: You are limited to two uses of Consumable Items throughout the entire duration of the gauntlet. This includes potions, spell scrolls, magic ammunition, and anything with a certain number of uses before becoming mundane or destroying itself. Items with a limited number of charges are allowed, as long as those charges have a natural way of recharging that does not involve effort or resources from someone or something else. If using a charge would destroy or risk destroying the item, it is not allowed.
Stealth: Stealth will be rolled against Passive Perception. You must beat your enemy’s Passive Perception to hide from it. If an enemy has a clear line of sight on you, you become revealed to that creature, regardless of your stealth check. Grapple: The player chooses whether to use 5e or 5.5 grapple rule
