Make an Animal Handling check for each week the basilisk is available for quests or roleplay (i.e. not petrified). On a result of 10 or less, your Basilisk petrifies 1d6 people (on a 6, including itself and you if you fail a DC12 CON save) and you must pay 150gp for each Greater Restoration required to un-petrify victims. If you fail to pay this or run out of gold, your basilisk will be confiscated. If you keep the Basilisk in a kennel on a homestead 12+ hours away from Luma, the petrification roll becomes a 1d2 instead.
