I want to bring joy to the players and DM's who rarely get to play cough emi coughI want to provide a fun but at the same time challenging experience for players. My main focus is on strategy and somewhat logical play. (This does not mean your char has to have high int or wis)
Banned Content: homophobia, racism, antisemitism, being mean to others out of character, 6 7, idk just be nice
Tactical combat! Dangerous fights and a dance a hair away from death~

# PBP Game Rules
To facilitate smooth and inclusive PBP games, here are my PBP rules. [Updated 11-Mar]
1. **Keep OOC chatter in <#1162479607749021867> .**
2. **Rewards are based on engagement.** If there is notably unequal participation or a participant is not regularly posting, individual contributions will be measured for rewards.
3. **Check in regularly/turn on notifications.** To avoid missing anything, turn on **All Notifications** for the quest thread. If you will be unavailable, let me know in DM's or <#1162479607749021867> and I'll work something out for your character. You won't get rewards for content you missed, but you won't be penalized in-universe for an IRL issue.
4. **Try to anticipate and include potential actions in your posts, and be clear about what your character is trying to do.** Due to the nature of asynchronous posting, listing out what your character might do in response to situations is absolutely acceptable! Providing insight into what your character is doing any why can also help speed things along.
5. **When action merits DM response, wait for the DM response.** Adding too many responses after someone has taken an action that needs a DM reply (such as questions to NPCs, requests to roll checks, etc.) may have consequences.
6. **Quest thread is for quest content.** I encourage characters to talk amongst themselves, but I can't count long side/personal conversations as content I am running! If you want to freely talk about subjects that don't need DM input, start a thread in <#1162555117443235850> and link to your aside in the quest thread. (So long as we're not in the middle of important action, you are welcome to side chat at your leisure, and this is a fine thing to do during my work hours.)
# Table Rules
## [ Priority / Signups ]
* Players not chosen for previous sessions have top priority.
* Secondary priority to DMs who have run in the previous 96 hours.
* Some sessions have special priority:
* Priority to lower levels or new players (for intro quests)
* Priority to characters with positive relationship to quest-giver
* Signups must include a filled-out form. No reserve posts.
* If you miss more than 40% of a campaign's sessions, you may be dropped. **[Added 24-Jul-24]**
* I require 48 hours notice for planned sessions.
* Requests must have three confirmed participants or be Public sessions. If requester(s) have not signed up at least one hour prior to quest time, quest will be replaced in the schedule with an open game. **[Added 4-May-25]**
## [ General Gameplay ]
* **I am forgetful.** If I forget something, please do remind me.
* **Creativity and roleplay are encouraged.** *How* you do something is considered in addition to the dice roll. You may receive increased rewards for good roleplay and creative tactics. I love tactics.
* Effective roleplay can mitigate low dice rolls. I use a partial success rule, meaning even if you fail a roll you might be able to succeed by sacrificing something.
* Roleplay can't fully bypass game mechanics. Example: Whispering does not grant Subtle casting.
* **Logic is key.** Think through your actions.
* Success is not guaranteed. When you win, it's because you earned it.
* When situations arise outside RAW, I utilize logic to divine outcomes.
* If you need assistance, you may roll an INT or WIS check to receive a DM suggestion or feedback into your chosen course of action.
* **Triggers will be honored.** If content comes up you are uncomfortable with, use the safe word "potato" in chat or spoken aloud, and feel free to DM me.
* **All maps are live maps.** Split the party at your own risk.
* **Veto** I reserve the right to overrule your decisions as long as they aren't solidly granted by the rules.
Perception and Insight checks may be freely rolled. You do not have to ask, simply say you are rolling. If you are checking for something specific, say as much. If you roll beneath your passive, flag to use your passive instead.
Searching: Perception uses senses to perceive animate things and stuff out of place. Investigation is careful, thorough examination. Both can be used for traps, clearing areas, finding clues and items. Investigation also rolls to determine how much time it takes.
Once an area is cleared of danger, parties may opt to use the Quick Search system instead of manually searching. This entails all party members making a Perception or Investigation check. The party's average result determines the outcome.
Quick Search rewards may differ from what is available via manual search and exploration.
Pets and Summons must be disclosed in advance. If it's not on the signup, it's not available on the quest.
Pets and familiars roll their own initiative.
Unless specified otherwise, summons share your initiative. If you will be using summons, use !init join -group GROUPNAME when joining init to set your group up, and be sure to add your summons to your group.
Animal Handling checks are sometimes required for pets.
Completed quests always reward XP and CS.
Gold, Soda, and item rewards depend on the quest-giver.
Rewards are calculated based on engagement.
If you are engaged, roleplaying, asking questions, and interacting with the setting, you will receive full session rewards and may even receive a reward increase of up to 10%. If you are not engaged and take a passive role, rewards may be docked up to a third.
Smart gameplay and problem-solving can earn a small amount of bonus XP.
There is no XP penalty for task failure. So long as the quest is seen through to the end, experience will be gained.
All maps are live maps. If I move somewhere, I may trigger combat.
If I die outside Luma, I can lose equipment.
I list magic items on my application. If I list it, I risk it.
I will pay attention during combat and the session because if I don't, I may earn up to 1/3 less XP. (This can be excused if sufficient reason is provided)
I will declare my EOT.
I can freely roll Perception and Insight and don't need to ask. I can also use my Passives instead.
Roleplay and logic are important. The things I do have logical consequences. I should think things through, then test my theories to see if they work.
If I'm not sure what to do, I can make an INT or WIS check for help.
I will speak up or spam the DM with DMs if I'm uncomfortable with content. Safe word is Potato!
