Esmer is the eldest sister to four siblings, three brothers in between the youngest sibling, her sister. Her family trades in precious stones across deserts so her life has been lived in a moving caravan. She is desensitised to the jewels that adorn all members of her family.
She was the first to learn to manage a stall, being the oldest child, but for some reason, she felt that her calling wasn't to this life. Not that she wanted to be sedentary or abandon the trade, but she felt like there was more to her.
The Amrick trade was bound to risks and she had noticed that whenever she made a wish in the air to protect their caravans in their travels, it had held. But whenever she forgot to say a prayer, sand storms hit, bandits lurked, the cart wheels broke down.
Moreover, she felt a presence whoever she looked at a reflective surface. Something kind. Beckoning to the maternal instincts of being the eldest sister to four. Her fingers flourished in healing. She rarely inflicted harm. She never used her goddess' gift of luck unless she truly needed it.
But for the seven years she had spent in this life of piety, she has known that something greater has been planned for her. A date beyond the sand and camels. The rubies, emeralds and gold. And as time passes, she finds herself getting more and more desperate to find an excuse to see the greens and the blues of the world.
