Gekko never really had the chance to be a child himself. After some wild events he found himself responsible for six younger siblings while still barely old enough to understand the world. Somehow, he made it work. He learned where berries grew safest, which roots healed fevers, and how to scare off hungry wolves while pretending he wasn’t terrified himself. He became cook, protector, storyteller, and parent all at once. The forest raised him almost as much as he raised them.

Gekko has the exhausted patience of someone who’s had to say “Don’t eat that,” more times than anyone should. He’s warm and caring, but always alert, constantly checking if everyone has eaten or if someone wandered off. He’s surprisingly good under pressure, though he often forgets to care for himself while caring for everyone else.
