Backstory

Zuri Daewa grew up in a small fishing town by the sea. Her mother, Cyrilia Daewa, ran a textile dyeing shop where Zuri spent half her time in, helping out with the dyeing and the sales. The other half of her time was spent with her father, Danilos Daewa, who ran the town’s small library. He spent his time with his nose in the books, scrolls, and tomes that he managed to collect over the years. He taught Zuri how to read and write and encouraged her to always seek knowledge. Her mother was a hard working lady and taught Zuri the value of a job well done. 

When Zuri’s magic first manifested, her father was delighted. He had hoped that his books and manuscripts would awaken something magical in her. Her mother was a bit more hesitant, worrying what this could mean for Zuri. Zuri herself was ecstatic. She had read of powerful wizards and masters of the arcane in her father’s books but she never dreamed that she would ever possess any magic at all. 

Appearance

Zuri Daewa (she/her) is a 21 year old tiefling sorcerer. She is brown skinned with orange/brownish wavy horns and pointed ears. She has a long tail with a tuft of hair at the end. Her hair is wavy and a little messy, long to her lower back and lavender colored. She has gold colored eyes and loves to wear reddish eyeshadow. She also loves anything gold and shiny, which you can tell by the gold earrings, gold septum piercing, and golden choker that she wears. Her outfit consists of a frilly, white blouse, as well as a red, knitted cardigan (courtesy of mom), a long, black skirt, a loose, black scarf with gold accents, a black skirt, and brown combat boots, covered in dirt from her travels. 

Motivation for Adventure

Zuri left home to further develop and train to use her new innate magical powers. As much as she loves her family, her town, and her slow, peaceful life there, she felt that she would never learn how to grow her self control by staying. Barely anyone in town possessed any sort of magic; everyone was simple and ordinary. 

Personality

Zuri is studious and hardworking. Sometimes she can be a little shy, but she’s determined to come out of her shell. She is neutral good, kind, and honest but that doesn’t mean she is keen on letting people take advantage of her softness. She will stand up for herself when she needs to. She loves books and has a desire to seek knowledge everywhere she goes, no matter if it’s deemed mundane or extraordinary. She is not a perfectionist per se, but she does strive to do a job well done each time, no matter if these are simply chores or odd jobs done for a coin.She tries to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it, believing in “you get what you give” wholeheartedly.
