Luma Crystal Description:
Malcer's crystal is fused into the wall, like a spread of crystalline fungus, possibly buried deeper into the wall. It is a dark, creeping thing, crystalline veins reaching out and spreading around the area. It has a deep, dark purple hue with a beating core of azure blue. His crystal is right across from Oppa the tortle druid's crystal in the same cavern.

A 6'4" looming figure with not a single bit of skin visible on him, draped in a faded black, hooded cloak and garbed in a baggy grey shirt and black pants. Long black gloves disappear deep into his long sleeves, and his pants are tucked neatly within a pair of similarly tall brown boots. Inside his hood, his neck is wrapped in a scarf. A multitude of pouches hang from the rather unusual number of belts and straps that crisscross his torso and waist, and a lone dagger remains sheathed at his hip. His face is concealed by his most defining feature, a blank, alabaster-white mask. It appears tight enough that it must cling uncomfortably to the face behind it, giving off the vague impression of a skull. A glimpse through the deep eye sockets reveals only darkness within.

With a rich golden baritone spilling from his "lips" and a reserved, methodical demeanor, Malcer tends to give off an air of reliability and welcoming calm in spite of his otherwise rather ominous attire. Malcer tends to be polite, well-spoken and thoughtful, approaching challenges with caution and focus.
However, when he must act, Malcer acts with decisive, tactical ruthlessness. Before all else, Malcer truly fears death, and he does not see the Luma crystals as a consoling safety net to be taking advantage of... or used at all if possible. In that sense, he prioritizes survival first and foremost, with concerns of morality ultimately being a luxury. It is not that Malcer is amoral, granted, but rather that he is not willing to put his neck on the line for others unless he has no other choice. The fact that his fellow adventurers also benefit from the utility of Luma crystals makes this an even easier choice to make than it was before he arrived there.
Yet, Malcer is not heartless, and at least -if for no other reason- the sake of having more meat-shields between him and death, he will do his best to preserve the lives of his allies and those around him. He is a man prone to sentimentalism, and when it would not unduly cost him, he is open to engaging in altruism for its own sake, especially if it is to help those that cannot help themselves.
Malcer's caution is also prone to being overridden by a great enough reward. His desire to never die and to pursue immortality has left him with a thirst for arcane knowledge and power, and the promise of such rewards has been one of his biggest motivators to continue actively risking his life as an "adventurer".

Malcer was once a simple farmer whose village was slaughtered by a lich that was looking for test subjects in his pursuit of an even greater form of immortality. Malcer was subjected to an attempt to bind a soul to a corpse, something that seemed to fail, leaving his body just another puppet of the lich for many years. Yet, the truth was the Malcer was perfectly conscious the whole time, trapped in his body and the unwitting apprentice to the lich's horrific teachings, learning much of forbidden knowledge and advanced concepts. One day, however, while the lich was absent, Malcer discovered how to retake control of his body and was suddenly free to raid the lich's lab and free many of his fellow subjects to break out together. Thereafter, Malcer lived in seclusion, studying magic and fearing for his life... until one day, he happened upon an entrance to Luma.
