Adventurers from Luma have aided Candlekeep long enough that their loyalty to the mysterious patrons within Candlekeep's upper echelons finally pays off. The defacto Archmage has returned from duties abroad, and thanks to agreements made with the Dead Roses entourage, everyone is emboldened for a mighty battle to catch one of the hiding red wizards off guard. And also crippling the Thayan's access to that stretch of the Sword Coast. Taking the time to secure the ancient estate, they found the Thayans had already ransacked the hidden supplies there. The party was able to eliminate all of the elite knights that were torturing Gilfred Rose, Ariel's uncle from Elturel. The man is a legendary paladin from an older time, despite being old, he has joined the Dead Roses clan and turned them from forest bandits into a truly worthy guerrilla and disciplined fighting force.
From a trustworthy source;
The walls are nearly a hundred feet tall! I've never seen anything like it, there's a strange plant that moves on its own covering every part of their fortress on the cliff! We've counted roughly forty total for their forces. They seem to come and go and shift in numbers, they only leave on the boats in the bay, they haven't ventured anywhere else. It seems like they are stuck on guard duty? Many of them look horribly bored, no matter how dangerous they are... they've gotten sloppy over the last week. I believe they are not sure what our next move will be... Meet us at the painted cliffs and let's drive these bastards out! Our people in the occupied village are not going to hold out much longer if these Thayans are left alone for much longer! - Ariel Rose
The objectives will be the total destruction of the fort on the Draechfang Steppes overlooking the bay and the liberation of the village and it's people there.* The party will be provided with a runepowder incindiery bomb payload to eradicate the wooden fort occupied by Thayan invaders. As well as major backup from Candlekeep and the Dead Roses. Many may join in the fight, as this may take several sessions! So expect multiple sessions (likely 2-3 depending on roleplay and choices), sort of like this being a mini-campaign!
*This is a game that features a running continuous story-line [Darkstar] If you've played "Wayfaring Strangers", "Roadhouse Blues", or "Butchers in the Yard" your character will benefit from the choices they made in prior games with boons and other goodies!
**Characters may come and go while the battle for Draechfang persists. Meaning if you can't make follow up sessions or didnt play in the first one, there's no issue! (ie a player can make the first game but can't do follow ups for whatever reason, and another player subs in to finish in their place.
***Difficulty will feel a bit harder than normal no matter the level range! Challenges will require a bit more thought, and DCs will be slightly higher! Session time will likely not go to full duration, but it will be the max time allotted!
