Theonie has lived in the Plover Caves most of her life. When you grow up with the threat of monsters nearby, you learn how to feel nature early on...at least, that's what she tells herself about her affinity to the natural world. She would escape the grown-ups and go exploring in the Shallows, and once she discovered the underground garden cavern, she found her haven. She also discovered a community of fungrils living there and eventually became "one of them."

She spent a number of years with them in peace, but when the Lure started losing its potency and the monsters started leaving the Catacombs and the Twilight and venturing into the Shallows and the surface, her two communities started to worry. Scouting groups were sent out; they discovered that the forest and wildlife have been growing unchecked and uncontrolled and heard stories about the Serpent and the Great Owl.

Theonie ventured out with one of the latest groups to try to discover the cause behind what the surface dwellers call the Witherwild. She and a small handful of her companions are now living on the surface in Elmore and, each in their own ways, are searching for the cause behind the Serpent’s Sickness and the Shepherd’s endless growth.
